Needed the space!

Featured Replies

Bought a fabia 1.2tsi 90ps back in 2016, I have since had a daughter and just found that the hatchback was not big enough for a young family!

As I could not find anything that I didn't like on that car, I took the plunge and picked up my 1.0tsi 95ps estate this morning!

My first impressions on the new 1.0tsi 95ps engine is that it feels a bit more responsive, mpg is slightly better, averaged 56mpg on the way back from the dealers, my old car would only average about 5mpg tops (it's quite hilly) but, it is early days, i'll get a bit more of a feel for it and how it is over the next few weeks!

Does anyone else have a 1.0tsi 95ps?

No idea about the 1.0 95..... but wifey drives a mk VI golf tdi and is starting to make advances towards my little fabia estate.

There's definitely a little less room for passengers but loads more room in the boot.

Not noticed the room in the back, our little one's legs have a long way to go before we notice and very rarely carry guests!

Managed to get the pram, bags, coats, 2 weeks worth of shopping and a lifeshine kit in the boot earlier, before it was shopping in the boot, the rest on the back seat and floor.

Lets face it, they are cracking little practile cars. Also I love the little storage bins in the boot, why don't more cars have them.

Nice one! You won't be disappointed. Let us know how you get on with it.

I test drove the 1.0 that was in the Seat Leon (also hired a 1.2 Seat Leon on a trip down South) as they share engines with the Skoda, I noticed that the 1.0 was a tad quicker and slightly better on fuel economy also. It's just a newer engine that has incorporated technology improvements over the older 1.2 - both great little engines IMO, they've even put the 1.0 in the Octavia and from what I hear, pulls the bigger car without a problem.

Is the 1.0 noisier than the 1.2?

Significant improvement with the new car then :)

Congrats on the new car.

I really like the Fabia Estate. Small outside/large inside, economical and more than enough performance for public roads.

I love my Fabia estate, it’s boot was the reason we bought it as our Astra hatch was not suitable for two young kids.

Hi, congratulations on your purchase certainly looks the part and as you state increased room but importantly no extra running costs ( fingers crossed )

I'll keep an eye on your thread from time to time as I will be looking to downsize from my octy estate as and when and the Fabia estate wil be an obvious choice

but questions and advice will be sought as and when

Had my new 1.0  110  DSG SEL Estate for 2 weeks now. I am happy to say it is significantly quieter than my  old 65 plate 1.2 DSG Estate.  Love the adaptive cruise control. The Kessy Keyless is hit or miss apparently it turns itself off if you lock it remotely with key fob.

My older Fabia estate had wider lower profile tyres that were very very noisy.  I love these little estates as they have a lot of boot space for my dog etc. I got rid of my older Yeti because the boot space was so limited saying that I loved that car.

5 days and 240 miles later, I am prefering this car for alot of reasons! Obviously the space is great, the driving I feel feels a bit quicker (some are reporting it being noisier but I don't think it is, I find it a bit quieter and so does my partner) the main thing I like is the mpg difference!

My usual journey of about 40-50 miles would give me approx 45-47 mpg but today, it was 58! The difference is unbelievable! (Journey was done in North Wales where the roads are up and down and there were 30mph speed limits all over the place when getting in villages so speed was up and down!)
