Hoover and chemical choice

Featured Replies

Looking at a wet vac but kind of bamboozled

Should I go for a carpet shampooer say a vax that will detergent for me

Or go for a bog Standard wet vac and a chemical and stiff brush and hoover up afterwards say like a karcher etc

What product is everyone getting good results with

For seats and carpet

I can’t compare your two options as I’ve only used what I have, which is the Vax. Owned it for several years to keep my annoying light grey seats looking good.

I give them a scrub down with the scotch guard then Vax it off. The detergent is about £7 a bottle and will do several full cleans, the machine cost me £50 and it’s fairly easy to use.

Thank you

The Vax seems like a good choice

Does it come.with a small shampoo head as well as a big one

Yeah, which is all I’ve ever used tbh :tongueout:

Personally I'd never use anything that emits water/cleaner to clean car seats.

The reason being as you really want to keep the amount of water/cleaner to a minimum as it gets absorbed by the foam underneath and then causes water marks on the upholstery as it dries.

I got myself a cheap little wet & dry vac from B&Q years ago but only used it to extract moisture i.e. spray the seat with Meguiars APC, agitate/clean with a damp sponge/brush then run the hoover over it to draw out any moisture.  Repeat as necessary but keep the use of liquid to a minimum :)

The amount of water the Vax puts out is very minimal and the suction is very good.

Obviously, if used incorrectly there will be the risk of soaking the foam, but I’ve never had that issue. Probably also helps I have heated seats to aid drying B)

I’m leaning more towards a karcher as it will be primarily for car use and don’t won’t to over soak everything

The vax is more expensive than I can pick a karcher up for

the George is another option but the cost of that is more than the vax

I have megs apc what ratio 4:1or 10:1
