SWITCHED FEED FOR DASHCAM?

Featured Replies

Hi

Trying to hard wire dash cam into my Kodiaq 2.0l Edition.  I have a piggy back connector and have routed the wiring and installed the camera.  I have earthed at the chassis bolt immediately behind the glovebox.  I have plugged piggy back into several fuse slots that should be switched eg rear wiper.  However, on each occasion, the camera immediately becomes live despite ignition (KESSY) being switched off.

Any advice on how to overcome this issue so that camera only become live at ignition switch on?  The set up I have worked fine in my Octavia.

You'll need to do a voltage test on different fuses to find one that's definitely a switched live.

I followed a guide on you tube and the car was identical but the fused used in the video was switched and the one on my car wasn't.  Using a multimeter I quickly found a switched one :)

Russ77.  Thanks.  Seems strange that the rear wiper won't work with ignition off yet the fuse is live but electrics are a mystery to me!  To test, is it simply a case of putting the positive contact onto the fuse slot and the negative onto an earth?

Certainly is :)

it's marginally easier if you pick a slot where there's already a fuse as they generally have a little exposed bit on the top of the fuse which is easier to get your probe on :)
