Hi 

I’ve got a 62 reg vrs tdi

i seem to have idleing issues 

when I start the car I idles perfectly once I start driving & then stop it idles quite high at just over 10 on the Rev counter

if I turn engine off then back on again it idles perfectly until I start driving again

it done this all day yesterday

the engine management light has not come on 

any ideas what the prob could be?

Is the car new to you or have you had it a good while?

How many miles covered, and when was the Air Filter, Fuel Filter changed or at least checked, and has it been on a Skoda Diagnostics recently when serviced?

Has it had the VW Emissions Fix carried out?     Was that done at a Skoda Dealership when in being serviced?

I’ve had the car for about 8 months

it had a full service 3 weeks ago & all filters were changed then

it hasn’t had a diognostic check 

Do you do a lot of short journeys? If so it could be doing a DPF regen

Cruise it up the motorway for half an hour and keep a steady speed and rev range so it's between 2000rpm and 2500rpm. You may even keep it in 5th gear if required.

 

This will let it complete the regeneration and it should tickover normally again. Usually it is trying to do a regen if the tickover is high and the radiator  fans are running (assuming it's not overheating).
