mapped on a standard turbo and clutch

Featured Replies

Hi guy

hope you can help me i have my fabia vrs which is mapped im not sure what the figures are but It is mapped and has a standard clutch and turbo

my question is how do I find out if the turbo and clutch can handle the power

i was told im running 210 but im sure the clutch and turbo would have blown by now so im thinking perhaps its a stage 1 around 180bhp and ive been told a standard clutch and turbo can handle a stage 1

I was told if you foot it and you smell burnt clutch thats a sign your turbo or clutch cannot handle the power but I never smelt anything like that when I go fast

so what would be the signs or tips to find out if the clutch and turbo can handle the power

much appreciated

You’re not running 210bhp on the standard turbo. No chance.

It’s the torque that’ll kill your clutch and the general concencous is that 300 is where it’ll start going wrong.

One of the obvious signs is clutch slip.

ohokay and whats the signs for a turbo not being able to handle the power?

also wot is the most power a standard turbo could handle?

It’ll go boom!! It may start to sound like a police siren before that, but it may not.

180bhp is pushing it for a standard turbo.

You might wanna find out who mapped your car and speak to them.

at the moment it all seems fine but I was told it doesnt pop straight away it could pop anytime but would take time

I was thinking of just taking the map off what that be the correct thing to do since I dont know who maped it and the person i brought it off doesnt know either.

It’s up to you, but if the mapper has pushed the turbo to its limit it’s a ticking time bomb.

lol yeah then either it need to be mapped down or mapped off

Or pay for a different map from a reputable company.

and what reputable places do you know around birmingham?

Best find a reputable place with a Dyno and find out what it is that you do get.
