3 x Octavia Company car owner, looking for info for family car.

Featured Replies

Good evening all, just a quick one to introduce myself. My name is Rich and I am from the Midlands.

I probably wont be hugely active on here (certainly to start with as don't personally have an Octavia of my own yet.)

Bit of brief history, I am traditionally a VW man, my Grandad had a small dealership back in the 70's-80's. So I was brought up on beetles early polos/golf and sciroccos and Type 2/campers for good measure.

I myself have an early Polo GT that has G40 engine and a few other modifications to help it go and stop, I changed the engine from a crashed G40 nearly 10 years ago. We also have a MK1 Scirocco with a 2.0 16v lump in which is a concoction of a MK2 and Mk3 Golf engine. Our family car is a MK6 Golf GTI, this is where my query begins if someone has the time to help me out.

I have a car for work as I do a lot of miles, I inherited a 1.6 (64 plate) elegance from a co-worker and it was brilliant at doing its intended job. When this came up for change I opted to foot the company car tax a touch more an had a 17 plate (pre facelift) vRS diesel and it was a fantastic car. I have since changed jobs and again opted for an Octavia, this time a facelift model with just the 150bhp diesel engine. I have found them all to be fantastic at doing the intended job and recommended them to anyone who has asked my opinion.

We have a 3 year old and are hoping in the nearish future to expand our family a touch more. I really enjoy our Golf and it has brought us great pleasure, but I cant help but think a reasonably fast estate is in order as the new family car.

My question is regarding this generation Octavia, but the pre-facelift model 13-17 I believe? I have been looking at a few and there are some lovely example about (I'm yet to look at the classified on here.) Can someone confirm if they ever made the pre-facelift in Petrol vRS guise but with the 4x4.

I know they do in the facelift, but I haven't found one pre-facelift. If I were to get genuinely serious about selling our golf and finding some money to put towards a new car, I would want it to be the spec I am after, and throwing 4x4 into it I think I would really consider.

Sorry for such a long post, for such a short question, but thought i'd put a bit into it as I am looking for genuine help.

Cheers all

Rich

no no petrol versions in 4x4 only the s-el, scout and the vRS oil burners

if you want petrol i think the leon cupra 4x4 estate is very good but thats golf r money, or alternatively the superb TSI 4x4 280 knocking on 40K though
