Using Sat Nav Am I doing it right?

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

Being a genuine 'Silver Surfer' my tech skills are limited. I'm using Android Auto by connecting my phone via the AA app I have on there and the cars' USB connection. It works a treat.

The rather naive question I have is, do I really have to have the sound on the Radio all the time I need Sat Nav or is there a way to have the Android Auto maps and sound only.?

When I got the car I expected that when I pressed " MENU" the radio would disconnect and leave me with options, but I'm finding the radio sound continues and the voice over on Sat Nav mutes the radio sound at each instruction.

When I want Sat Nav but not Radio what do I do?

try turning radio volume down, what happens then, on my car that works and the sat nav voice can be upped when the voice controls come on! I have an Amundsen+

Thanks for your help, I did say it was a naive question!!!

I hadn't tried that. Just been to try it, turned the radio volume right down and the Sat Nav Voice is unaffected and works perfectly.

I  had it in my head that the Sat Nav voice would be turned down along with the radio when I turned the volume control down:blush:.

Sorry for being a simpleton but the beauty of this forum is that there is always an answer to the question. I really do appreciate your help.

Harry.

happy to help, had similar probs originally and fell on the solution!

I fell on this too. The volume of the satnav and radio are completely separate. When the satnav is talking, if you change the volume you will see a little chequered flag next to the volume level in the maxi-dot. If you change the radio volume you see a musical note instead of the flag. Changing one doesn't change the other.

Thanks Jeff you've given me something else to play with. I'll check the maxidot next time I'm playing with the Sat Nav.

Fyi mine's a mk3 Superb. On the previous mk2 I didn't have the flag/ music note, but the principle is the same. Adjusting the volume of satnav will not affect radio volume and vice versa.
