2016 VRs rear mounted bike rack?

Featured Replies

Does anyone know if it is possible to fit a rear mounted bike rack without damaging the rear spoiler?

If so can you point me in the right direction for possible options.

Thanks in advance.

I've never thought to check if mine fits the vRS! I suppose as there are only 2 of us we can get both bikes in the Hatch easy enough.

I might try this weekend and see how versatile the Halfords "Fits most cars" claim is. I've had it on a Mini Hatch, Qashqai and Astra GTC ok.

Would be interested to know.

We are going away & want to take the bikes, but the boot will be full of other stuff.

i couldn't on my mkII vrs saloon as the upper straps would be hooked directly onto the top edge of the rear windscreen glass which was a bad idea. on the estate now i put the bikes onto thule bike carriers on the roofbars. Footpack and roofbars gives more versatility if you ever want to use a roofbox as well

I’ve had a look and don’t see how it could fit easily. I’m cleaning the garage out this weekend so I’ll have a trial fit and post some photos.

Was hoping not to have to fit roof bars.

I think the above will be the problem rather than the spoiler.  Can’t see it being a good idea hooking onto the glass. They make a total mess of paint work as well, in my experience. Never again (wasn’t on my car, my wife’s).

On the Halfords one I have there are some small "dumb bells" which sit inside the Hinge pocket at the top of the hatch. Its only got hooks for lateral stability.
