ABS Sensor/ Rear Hub problem. Help appreciated please.

Featured Replies

Hey guys, I have a 2007 Octy II L&K.  The ABS dash light illuminated and I got a friend to hook it up and the rear Offside ABS sensor showed as a fault.  Today I changed the sensor and turned on the ignition, the ABS dash light was still illuminated and after driving off it went out after about 30 metres BUT then came back on and stayed on for the duration of a 3 mile journey.  On starting the return journey the ABS light stayed off on starting the engine but again came back on after about 20 meters and stayed on.  So when replacing the sensor I noticed that where the hub meets the sensor there is a hard rubber ring that looks like it is supposed to either rub against the sensor or rotate very close to it.  This rubber/ plastic ring had disintegrated in several areas around it's circumference.  The question is...is the condition of this ring likely to affect the reading of the sensor thus activating the ABS warning or/and is the ring a replacement part or is it integral with the hub?  I have attached photos as a reference.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

A would suggest replacing the full hub and ABS ring as its all 1 clear the fault code it should stay off.

Hope this helps.

Thank bud. I appreciate you taking the time to reply.

I'm with Taximan, Replace the hub and ABS ring.

Had the same issue, but after Skoda looked at it, turns out the hub had a crack in it too so that was changed and my ABS problem went away!
