40mm drop on 18" wheels

Featured Replies

Looking at some H&R lowering springs (40mm) and curious if anyone has fitted these on their octy with 18 inch alloys.. any pics out there?

Would also like to know if the arches ever scrape with a fully loaded car (5 persons + suitcases for example)

Thanks! :)

UPDATE- Found this for anyone looking for similar!

H&R, VWR & Revo springs seem to lower the vehicle a total of up to 40mm, H&R seem to be the preferred choice purely for that lower stance look but Eibach also offer 2 kits for lowering, the pro kit which lower 20-10mm & the sportline kit which I think lowers more but stiffer.

There was a big thread on here showing cars with Eibach lowering springs/kits but I can't find it.

Check ebay.de & the Eibach pro kit Part no: E10-79-010-02-22 this is the part no but can't remember if this is for the estate version or both car types, also check dpm performance (member on here) https://www.briskoda.net/forums/forum/160-dpm-performance/ (great advise & support from him, might cost a tad more than buying for ebay.de but great care, support & you help to support uk business)

I would recommend the Eibach pro kit especially if you are worried about a fully loaded car & don't want to worry about high curbs, lower front bumper etc...but on the upside the Eibach pro kit will lower the vehicle more over standard springs but won't look as good as the H&R springs with no load in the vehicle so its a balance of both depending what your'e more concerned about. B)

I did have the Eibach pro kit but I didn't fit them & sold them on, only because I carry a 3/4 load most of the time & to be honest London roads definitely ain't the best for lowering (to much speed bumps) & high driveways.

I'm sure folks who have the (H&R, Eibach, VWR) springs will come along & be able to advise you

EDIT: don't forget the stock vRS is already 15mm lower so lowering with H&R etc will probably drop another 25mm

I have H&R 40mm springs on 19s and regularly carry 5 with no issues. wouldnt hesitate to get them again. it would probably be my first mod if i get another. vRS = -15mm from stock so this is 25-30mm lower than vRS springs.

Very helpful replies and pictures- thanks! .. Definitely a lot to consider just to change the arch gap.. will see how long it annoys me for before I make a decision! :)

Its not just about the gap, its about a far better handling experience especially in and out of the corners and its a lots less 'crashy' over the pot holes. It feels liek you can put the power down in a corner or roundabout without losing the rear end.

If i was to start from scratch it would be the first thing i would do no question.
