Black car - Polish?

Featured Replies

Hi All

Just borrowed a DA machine with all the pads etc from a mate.

I quickly ran it over my 2014 transit connect (white) with some autoglym resign polish and it got it back up ok, looks a million times better than it did before :)

Now looking to do my Golf R (Black) it's not the best looked after paint finish - lots of surface scratches etc.

Can you advise a good polish/fine cutting medium to use?

Was looking at Scholl S20black as it says it is a good single stage polish thing and good for dark cars.

Not trying to get a professional finish, just clean it up a bit and get rid of some of the scratches after a decent wash.

Thanks in advance.

Hi defenderben. Why don't you try the Koch chemie anti hologram polish that I myself am going to purchase. Reason being, you will avoid getting the dreaded holograms that I've encountered on my black vrs. I've been in discussion with a couple of peeps on here about it and it seems like a no brainer. Black is about the worst colour there is to m/c polish. Whichever way you choose, good luck and don't forget the before and after pics.

I had a spirit blue Fiesta ST. It was only ever washed with a pre foam and 2 bucket method until it went for service where the dealer washed it with some sand paper. Chemical guys VSS and a refining pass with some Meguiars Ultimate polish did the trick. Just make sure to do a refining pass and that should negate any holograms. A full chemical decontamination and clay bar first will be essential prior to machining the surface or any bonded contaminants will be picked up by the pad and then worked back into the clear coat as a scratch, marring or trail.

Prior to waxing  with some DoDo Juice purple haze i I put on a coat of Poorboy's World Black Hole Glaze.

Pop a photo up when its done, it should look the nuts
