Advice needed

Featured Replies

Started a new topic as decent advice needed to get some resolution with my superb.

Purchased May 2017 ( 6 month old ex dealer managers car)

Cost £24995

5000 miles on clock 66 plate

Balance of warranty

Purchased via px and private funds

Issues and problems noted within first month of ownership:

Sunroof/ trim rattling

Sunroof control panel creaking

Drivers door glass rattling when window partially open

Centre tunnel cup holders creaking

DSG jerking from 1 - 2 - 3 gears

The dealer who sold me the car fixed the centre console creaking, assured the DSG is normal and attempted to fix the other issues.

2 attempts to fix the roof noises failed so i escalated this with SUK. SUK advised that to investigate the roof issues further could cost me as unless there is a manufacturing fault found all labour costs will be charged to me.

This sort of scared me off from pursuing.

6 months into ownership the car was due a service. Alongside this i requested the dealer to investigate the roof noises. This was another dealer. The attempted fix failed. Roof creaking and rattling still.

Start of this year i raised the issue of the roof with SUK again. They referred me back to the dealer who serviced the car. Car booked in problems to be looked at:

Sunroof rattle and creaks

Drivers door glass rattle

Oil leak from oil filler cap

Oil leak fixed but following partial removal of the interior roof lining to access the roof rattles. Attempted fix for the roof failed again despite major intervention. Drivers door glass still rattles also.

Dealer informed the fix failed but they advised as per SUK in that any further work could be at my cost if not 'manufacturer fault' found.

So following 4 attempts to resolve the roof problems which were apparent from purchase SUK and 2 dealers have shunned me.

The car is a poor example. It was sold like that. Some faults have occured within the year i have owned the car. Its taken a year to get the dealer to even take the roof problems serious.

I don't want a £25k DIY car where i have to repair things myself. It still has a warranty.

I feel the dealers and indeed SUK are being selective with their help.

Technicians are being proven to be poorly skilled.

Skoda are not paying credence to the warranty.

Apologies for the super long post.

Any suggestions as to what to do next?

I feel your pain. Bloody nightmare.

Skoda dealers are increasingly sh1te - and are becoming more and more like the arrogant VW dealers that prompted me to move across to Skoda in the first place (Mk5 Golf GTI DSG to new vRS DSG with the same engine in 2010).

Don’t give up. You have a warranty, so fight for it.

Or, sack it and move to a brand that is genuinely vfm and looks after its customers, like Skoda used to be...... Kia?

I'd r the dealer and Skoda really shunning you since they seem to be saying they will investigate further and if a fault is found then they will fix if under warranty free of charge. Only if they find no fault will it cost you. Or have i got that wrong? If it creaks as bad as you say then a fault will be present so will not cost you.

Creaked and rattled since purchase.

The general impression given to me is that is 'how skodas are'.

Thus my opinions are it has not been assembled correctly from the manufacturer. Therefore it IS a manufacturing fault which skoda are shunning away from.
