Carista

Featured Replies

Hi all I was wondering if anyone has used the Carista Bluetooth OBD to make changes and tweeks to their car and is it any good?

Not used it myself but I wouldn’t. There are plenty people out there who have mucked up their cars using ‘one touch’ style apps.

OBDEleven is superior in that it allows long coding. Please don’t fall for the one touch apps, code yourself as you know then what changes are taking place. Learning to code these cars is very easy, it’s just changing values from one thing to another, box ticking. It's not 1’s and 0’s; if it were, I wouldn’t be able to do it!!

I have used Carista a lot, I registered to be a beta tester, where they ask you to test things and charge you nothing for it. It worked surprisingly well, no damage done, everything was reversible.

I have it and have used it on a number of cars with good results.

It isn't as good feature-wise as OBD Eleven but I have an iPhone so can't use OBD Eleven.

PS. It's near impossible to "muck-up" your car using Carista. Don't be put off.

So it is possible

just wondering Sasha I have watched your amazing DIY thread and tbh I'm not brave enough to do half of  what u did..however I just ordered a obdeleven and being non techie thought it's built in apps were pretty bulletproof and reverseable though I am aware each time u have to pay/use the credits... am I wrong? thanks in advance...(i only ordered it cos I dont want to do the long coding.)..cheers.

Thanks :) There have been some issues with the apps as they are pre written code and the problem with this is that you don’t see the values that this is changing. It only takes 1 value to be wrong in the app for the app not to work properly and leave an error code. As as example, the one time I tried an app out of laziness it was for teardrop rear wiping on the Citigo and it didn’t take. Had to redo the coding and do it manually to get it to work. For the Octy 3 the apps are many and varied but I’ve still heard of one or two bugs that people have had. You’ll need to use the credits but you can accumulate free ones by watching adverts though.
