Wow, Yokohama Fender flashback.

Used to rely on these a lot when coming alongside. Pretty impressive piece of kit, considering 4500 tons of Ship was bouncing off it.

Even more impressive when they popped!

Thanks - but I suspect that those to also be too "cosmetically challenged" for her ladyship :)

Driving lessons it is, then.

I had a similar issue with my other half. It took a couple of bumps before she relented and took some refreshers to get her spatial awareness up.

Past "experience" - both inside and outside cars - would indicate that such "refreshers" would have little, if any, lasting effect

Make her pay for the damage then.

If a lorry driver doesn't need to see all corners of his vehicle to drive properly then a little lady doesn't need to see all corners of a normal car.

That's just an excuse for bad driving.

However I'll let you pass on those comments since I would never say such a thing and expect to live past sunset.

..Might also be worth getting one of those small, flat square cushions you get for outside furniture etc. Get one that closely matches the colour of the seats. I have one in my car, for those vertically challenged students.

Perhaps it's not just the 'bumper' mast your OH requires, but a....

She's actually already got one of those (as have I in the Octy) but even that's not high enough - we've just been to see another Mk V GTI and she had to put another cushion-type seat cover on top of the that pad before she seemed happy (and her hair was then nearly touching the headliner!

Not "entirely sure" about that idea - she might just take it to heart, get all-round bumpers fitted to whichever car we buy, and then "go for it!

All "bets" on a Mk V GTI now off for the moment - found out what was wrong (ridicuolous really, it spewed out coolant with what looked like oil but was probably just leak sealant,  because the header tank cap seal had broken!) with the Mk IV and they are fixed, and so she's driving it again. Still looking out for something else for the future though.
