Goodwood Festival of Speed

Featured Replies

Having watched coverage on ITV4 and the hill shootout, think something died inside of me.... Top two times? No wheelspin, no tyre smoke, no engine noise. Just a high pitched whirr of electric motors. Progress? Undoubtedly. But I grew up standing in forests watching rallying and Group B. The spectacle, the speed. The SOUND!!!!!

Not sure about electric rallying....:o

Just imagine F1 without the need for earplugs.

Depressing...

I thought the point of goodwood was to watch, hear and smell the old cars going up the hill.

I think it would be sad if racing was silent with a smell of ozone

I saw a bit of Formula E which was like watching the golf channel.......zzzzzzzz

The Donald with the golf carts rushing about all over the place on Saturday and Sunday was more exciting than Formula E.

Lawnmower racing is a better spectator sport IMO and you get the smell of 2 stroke and the noise.

Yeah, the earlier vehicles made noise! Mike Skinner's (late of the Grand Tour) NASCAR truck and Justin Law's Jag V12 particularly so.

The last ones were so Formula- e. The e isn't for excitement that's for sure.
