USB Error

Featured Replies

I recently bought a Sandisk 16GB USB Cruzer Fit, I've reformatted it as Fat32 and dropped a few folders onto it all containing mp3's, however when I try and select USB in Media (8" Amundsen) it gives a USB error, any idea what could be causing this ?

I have no issues when playing the same tracks off of an SD card, it's really stating to annoy me, also tried it in the wifes '18 plate KIA soul and that also says 'no supported files found' :@

Hi,

try a full format not the quick one, it may help

Formatted through the command window and still not working :@ Reads in my PC and Mac as FAT32, folders and MP3's show up on both computers but in my Karoq all I get is Error: USB device

Hi,

do any other USB devices work OK?

I'm not very technical on such matters, but can the USB port 'read' Fat 32 files or does it have to be in another format for it to do so?

The fact you are experiencing issues in another vehicle USB port would rule it out as being a defective port in your vehicle.

Another suggestion would be the actual stick is defective. Have you tried another one (different brand) to see if that resolves the issue?

A FAT32 formatted USB stick works fine with my MIB1 Amundsen.

I tried to use the USB for music when I first had the MK3 Octavia with Bolero but it soon became apparent it was simply crap.

The socket can only supply 0.5 amps to charge anything and is probably limited in other ways. Best to forget about it.

Think it's a defective stick, tried another 'generic' 8mb stick and that works OK with the same folders/files, damn annoying as it reads/writes fine in the PC or Mac, think I'll just have to use it for general storage :crying:

My father in law brought a brand new Toyota Avensis a few years ago and I had real issues getting a USB stick working in it.

Turns out it would only support a maximum size stick of 8GB!

This maybe a similair issue for yourself.  SD cards are a better option if you have a slot for one.
