Wheel refurbishment

Featured Replies

Morning all.

I've got diamond cut annapurna alloys on my yeti, all of which are suffering with varying degrees of whiteworm and lacquer peeling.  Can anyone recommend a good refurbishment place that can strip them, and powdercoat/relacquer?

Cheers

Andy

You are as well to see who are close to you & established as that makes it easier, check how long they have been in business, get a quote from them.

Locally someone must use the local places.

Stripping the coating, getting the white worm away and recoating is a PITA,

best get them sprayed and easy to touch up in the future IMO.  But a good refurbisher will keep you right on that.

I've had both sets of my Annapurnas refinished in plain silver - they look fine.

I will avoid diamond cut/lacquered rims on any future vehicles - despite fastidious coating and protection, 3 years seems to be a regular life before the dreaded 'white worm' visits!

This isn't confined to 'budget' marques either, IME, even top dollar marques seem to have similar issues!

Just get them powder coated for about £60 a wheel?

I use "The Wheel Specialist".

They have branches all around the UK. Go for "TWS Flash Chrome" finish and it will be almost the same finish as the diamond cut, but will be 100x more durable for future white-worm.
