but a couple of weekends ago I bought a face lift mk2 Octavia vrs. 

 

Then Last weekend I went to vw fest and bought some stuff from the auto finesse stand. My cleaning box consists of ... 

 

Wheel cleaner, snowfoam, bug and tar remover, iron out, shampoo, polish and wax as well as tyre dressing and glass cleaner. I also have drying towels, microfibre cloths and what-not. 

 

Being a bit of a noob to so many products (in my day autoglym shampoo and polish was all you needed) I’m a bit at a loss at what order to you all these things in? 

 

P.s. here is a pic of my car in case you’ve never seen a standard, high mile Octavia vrs in pretend police car white. 

Autofinesse have useful guides on youtube, the episodes are called detailers den, watch a few of them and they will help you.

Usually it's 

Snow foam

Rinse 

Wash 

Rinse 

Fallout remover 

Clay 

Compound if it needs it 

Polish 

Wax or lsp

Slick tyres 

Wax the glass (except screen) A

 

Admire

Cheers. Went with. ... 

 

Interior hoover and wipe over with interior spray

None I’m afraid. I didn’t take any as I was doing it and I had to go straight out to get me kids when I finished. 

 

It looks just like the top pic just a bit shinier. 

Personally I use this method though other options are available 

 

Powermaxed TFR at 9:1 (much better IMO than snowfoam and you don't need to buy a lance, just a pump up garden sprayer)

Rinse

Wash with a detox shampoo using lambs wool mit or synthetic equivalent

Wash wheels (I wash the wheels last as there's enough clean shampoo and rinse in my 10L 2 buckets to do this)

Dry

Tardis to remove the tar (saves contaminating your clay and reduces marring)

rinse

dry

Iron out including wheels

Rinse

Wash again

Clay using a clay mit with shampoo as lube if required,

rinse

dry

Polish if required

Wax/sealant of your choice

Glass

door shuts with sonax BSD

Wheels with same

Dress tyres

clean Interior
