Creaking noise

Featured Replies

noticed on the way home last night after having to go down a road with a daft amount of speed bumps that the cars started to make a creeking noise... it seems to be coming from the drivers side and sounds like it scoming from the rear end of the car.

i can get the car to make the noise (only very slightly) by pulling off sharply or braking hard then accelerating hard in say 2nd. it is worse when going over speed bumps though.

i cant create the noise by rocking the car so i dont think its suspension and non of the interior trim seems to simulate the noise when given a shuv about.

anyone else had something similar?

the cars done 32K miles if that helps.

Knocks and bangs = ARB links.

Creaks = ARB bushes or radiator mounts. (or other suspension bushes at mileage of 80k+)

Rad mounts can sometimes be heard by standing over it with the bonnet open than gatting an assistant to slam the passenger door. If, like mine, your rad squeeka it can be easily sorted by doing a search for the problem on here.

its got 4 months of warranty left so i'll call the dealer.

thanks chap

Mines just 3 years old, 40k on the clock....now its creaking:mad: Been told its the front roll bar bushes have dried out and the paint underneath has swollen with rust and has created a tight joint that squeaks :(

New uprated roll bar me thinks........:D

i have a plan to take it to my mates garage and get it on the ramps so we can have a look... then i can go to the dealers armed with the info i need to get the work done under warranty

Mine's just had ARB and bushes with 3 months remaining. Apparently one of the bushes has gone and worn the ARB down  , creaking groaning sounds before it was fixed.

thanks for the info guys

OK, more a 'squelch' than a squeak. Certainly not a bang or a knock

What do you guys reckon? It happens at low speeds when I first hit a speed bump and then again when I drop down the other side.

My motor is 3 years old, 50k miles and 90% town driving on Sheffield's terrible roads.

That sounds more like the noise the dampers do when they're just doing their job, but maybe they need replacing. At 50k it's possible they're worn out or leaking.

ok, bit of an update... i went over a couple of smaller speed bumps today on the carpark at work... these are the small but steep variety that catch the mud flaps if taken too quickly... anyway, the noise is deffinately coming from the front of the car as the front wheels crest and then drop off the bump.

Guys at www.autops.co.uk are fitting me a Neuspeed anti roll bar Friday complete with new bushes, i will then laser 4 track it at work FOC cause i can:P

This squeaking problem seems to occur when the powder coating flakes behind the rubber bush thus expanding and making the bush tighter thus it creaks/squeaks:thumbdwn:

after a bit more "experimenting" there is deffinitly creeking coming from the front drivers side of the car and a slight noise from the rear... could i be unlucky enough to have both front and rear ARB bushes go !?

 Neuspeed front ARB fitted with new bushes today by www.autops.co.uk squeaking now gone :D

Must say car feels brilliant, steering has quickened up as well.

Top guys...Cheers to Nathan for fitting it and Andy for doing the deal;)

Phil:)
