Hi folks, new member,.  I need to access the back of the dashboard in my '13 reg Fabia estate.  Background :-.  I recently had to have front windscreen replaced,  I told the repair Co. That I had an antenna mounted on the roof so a windscreen with aerial included would be the wrong spec..   I was wrong !    Since fitting, the radio no longer works !  I'm assuming (?) that, as they fitted a roof antenna, there is probably a co-ax leading to somewhere near the back of the radio.  Would this be right ?   If this a reasonable assumption,. Please could someone advise how to access the area ?   Is there a helpful u tube to show the way ?  Also, there seems to be no output from the cig lighter power outlet.  I bought the car used and have no handbook / users guide.  I have no idea which fuse is which.  Can any fellow member help please ?

Welcome.

The aerial on the windscreen, the thin black line is a 'diversity aerial' that works with the roof aerial.

So you wanted the correct windscreen with the connection connected and your roof aerial connected.

There are those that have had the Windscreen Aerial not connected, the Radio still gets reception though from the main aerial.

Thank you offski,.  I agree, I should have asked for the windscreen with the aerial.   I thought I'd be saving money ! As the car appears to have a roof mounted aerial. However the radio no longer appears to work. I imagine neither aerial is connected.    I wanted to know, how to access the area to see what's wrong.   Do you have this information please ?  Many thanks for your help, Tony.

Can you clarify what you mean when you state "the radio no longer appears to work"?

What radio if fitted to your Fabia? Does it light up when it is swithched on? Does it still play CDs? Is there no sound output on both FM and AM bands?

You also say that the cig lighter also does not work so this could be fuse related if the radio does not appear to have any power.

Tony,

Did you manage to sort out your radio problem?

Hello Liger 1956, regrettably, I am still without the radio function.  I don't know if you received my reply or not. I used the "reply" option with Briskoda.   The equipment has power, it lights up in radio mode it works in CD mode, but just hisses when attempting to tune it. It appears obvious to me (?) That the problem is with the aerial coax cable,  It must terminate behind the firewall but, how to get there ?

I also still have no power from the 12volt outlet, without the owners handbook I don't know which fuse to try. I help offered would gratefully received. To recap, the model is a Skoda Fabia Estate regd 2013 I assume this makes it a mark it.
