Hello everybody, 

I have a Columbus unit in my car that has served me quite well.... up until now. I'm tired of using old maps (even if I have v14 version), not having DAB or simply doing what my 200€ phone can do better.

 

I'm about to change it with a new android head unit, that its own GPS antenna and BT.

So my question is : is there somethig that I can (or should) strip out the car ? I'm thinking about GPS and  BT, to start with...

 

Has someone else experience with these Android units? I'd like an honest opinion and some suggestion : for example, where to put the usb ports, the gps antenna, the dab antenna... and so on!

I don't think your missing much with DAB - -Ive got it on my columbus in my Oct 3 and its very poor - to the point I use it in FM instead.

 

A guy I work with has android headunit that he is happy with - i think its a Zenec.  He wired USB to the HU and mounted antenna in front window and it works ok.  Personally I prefer the Columbus i had in my old Oct 2 (but i'm not bothered about DAB or using phone functions on the HU)

Thanks for for the info: DAB, at least in my region in Italy, is a big difference with FM.
