Front Grill Trim Replacement?

Featured Replies

Hello

ive purchased the black trim that goes around the front grill to replace the current chrome one.

Ive looked into fitting it myself but it seems rather difficult and very awkward.

just wondered if anyone else has done this to their Karoq and any info or instructions for this will be much appreciated.

pictures or even a video would be fantastic.

thank you in advance for any help.

regards

Ian

I'd also like to know if anyone did it, how much was it @Muzz

Me too  :)

Ouch, £135 plus delivery?

When is the SportLine being introduced in the UK? Might have been a bit cheaper to wait a little while and order from a UK dealer. The black surround for the MkIII Octavia can be had for less than £50...

Unfortunately the grill surrounds are clipped and plastic welded to the main part of the grill. It all depends on access to the Torx screws along the upper edge on the back of the grill. Have you taken any photo's to share on here? If you can access the four Torx screws then chances are you'll be able to do it with the grill in situ, although you'll have to smash the current chrome surround off first in small sections, carefully of course!

If you can't easily access the four Torx screws which partially releases the grill (allowing access to all of the clips) then as the grill is plastic welded to the front bumper, the bumper needs to come off as well, so a pretty big job.

If it is of a similar construction to the current Octavia, then it should be possible to do without much hassle, see here...

So I contacted my local vinyl wrapping place and was quoted only £70 to "wrap" my stock grill in gloss black. I will be ordering it next mo th and will post pictures here. Other people could also follow the route. If you want the name of my guy in central Scotland drop me a message.

WHY. Personally I like all the chrome and silver roof rails on the wife's SEL Karoq. Looks classy whereas a black grill would just look cheap like a base model in skinflint blue.

The kodiaq vrs is gonna have gloss black mirrors, window surrounds, roof rails and a black grille, it's quite a good looking car.

It will also have a twin turbo diesel engine with 237bhp probably have 20" alloys (terrible ride quality) and VRS badges front/rear to justify the steep price premium.

I think this looks cool, I’ve replaced the wing mirrors to black on mine with blacked out rear and front lights, also changed the rear letter badges to black

That looks really good, how was the tint done and how much was it if don't mind me asking?

Thank you, the tint on all front lights were the lightest shade to keep legal and dark tint on rear with the indicators Ann reverse lights left clear. It cost £120.

I am getting my wheels powder coated black soon.. I am going to ask about the grill surround.. And maybe the lights .. Maybe later the mirrotlrs and roof rack.cheers for the photos

We ordered our recent Octavia with black window trims and roof rail. Then it was easy to change the grill surround and byu black wheels. It is a "totally" red and black, only the front and back emblems are chrome, because I didn't found black emblems with right red base colour. There are no texts in back either.

When ordering the Karoq in June, no black window trims, no black roof rails. Ok, no black grill surround and wheels. It would be Quartz Grey and "silver" version. Don't even remove the texts this time.

In my opinion the black and chrome mix doesn't look good.
