Squeaky varioflex seating

Featured Replies

Has anyone a good solution to reducing the squeaking of the varioflex seating in their Yeti, please?

Lubricate the mountings?

First time I’ve seen that issue, squeaking I mean.

Is there anything caught underneath stopping them latching properly?

aufff take 'em out and use as a van - problem solved!

seriously, try a little lube on the moving bit perhaps

Had a thought last night.....

What type of seats does the OP have? Could it be the vinyl squeaking?

Thanks Graham, they're leather.  They are latched properly.  We had the same admittedly minor problem in our previous Yeti (also leather), but I do notice squeaks and rattles more than most.

Any suggestions what lube to use, please?  I'm reluctant to go slap-dash with any old grease, especially since the area is carpeted and it's not much fun getting grease out of carpet.

The seats on mine are also leather and I have never had a problem with the making a noise. At least we now know that it is the mounts that are squeaking, not the seats themselves.

Best solution I can think of is to fold the seats up and spray the hinges and catches with some white grease. Believe it or not the Halfords one isn't bad but if you are friendly with a garage try and get the Wurth product; that is excellent.

As far as I know the sides of the seats are actually vinyl, and if that is where the noise is coming from then some Trim Spray on a cloth and wiped over them might work. Even Mr Sheen works for a while.

Try something like rubbing the sides where they touch with a cloth dusted with a little un-perfumed talc.
I do believe that the sides of the leather seats are synthetic so if rubbing they will squeak, the talc has just enough oils in it to stop that. I found that in a Porsche manual for keeping door seals in good condition.

Maybe try removing one seat at a time to see if one is the culprit?  Presumably removing the middle one first would eliminate the vinyl squeaking option.
