Totally confused

Featured Replies

Hi all, I’m new so be gentle!

I have a new Octavia vrs with the Amundsen infotainment system.

It tells me that i have no internet connection even though it recognises my iPhone and that my hot spot/wi fi is active.

do I need a car stick? If so What car stick do I require?

Also if I can get any other info that would be fab.

I have read many conflicting reviews on what is required and it’s doing my head in..

thanks in advance...

Hi Col46,

I have to manually connect every time I get into the car.

Start the car, go to WLAN menu, go to the Personal Hotspot setting on the iPhone, cycle it off & on, hit ‘Find’ in the car’s menu, and you should be able to see it, and connect to it once you’ entered the password.

I think it’s a quirk of the iPhone whereby if it disconnects the hotspot and connects to a WiFi network, it goes out of ‘Discoverable’ mode.

Hope that helps,

Nick

Hi thanks for that nick. I’ve had a play and it worked. Next silly question now that my globe finally goes white what does that enable me to do or get?

As my nav works as it did before and nothing else obvious has changed? As you can gather I’m not very good with tech.

cheers

Hi Col,

Glad you got it working.

You shoukd see ‘WLAN’ displayed next to the white globe to see if you have a connection.

I needed to go into my local Skoda dealer to register for the Connect services, but you should see traffic status overlaid on your maps now; green for free-flowing, red for jams. At least that what it does with mine, and I think POIs are more accurate/up to date.

The other online services seem pretty pointless, and I’ve not used them since trying them out initially.

Hope that helps!

Nick
