Airbad system check lighting after glove compartment remove

Featured Replies

Hi,

today I have removed the glove compartment and therefore I disconnected the airbag on/off switch cable. After reinstall and reconnect the system airbad check is lighting continously. It is not flashing just lighting. Is it indicating an error in the passenger side airbag? If not is it possible to clear this to not lighting?

thanks in advance

You'll need a diagnostic cable such as VCDS or similar to clear the error code.

That should also remove the warning light assuming no other errors are present.

It sounds like you havnt plugged the air bag back in properly. Removing and unplugging is fine so long as the ignition isn't switched on while it's unplugged. It can be quite awkward getting it reconnected as it's buried a little. Maybe best rechecking you've connected it correctly before having the fault cleared.

I made a mistake and I switched on the ignition. So it is reconnected corretly I have tried to switch off and on the airbag and according to the check lamp it works properly.

Do you have any experience with the vcds cable because I have found from €10 to €55 (which contains not just a cable but a tool too)

thanks

I can only recommend genuine vcds which is more expensive that either of those. Cloned versions can and have caused issues for others.

If you want something cheaper, I'd suggest you look at obdeleven or carista.

I have cleared airbag faults using the carista app and a Bluetooth dongle.

Surely you could have at least tried googling either carista or obdeleven?

Both searches take you to the manufacturers website which list a compatible dongle...

edit:
