Dashboard Illumination

Featured Replies

Very very pleased with my Karoq & went for my first long night time drive recently. I found the dash illumination too bright but couldn't adjust it!

Cold light of day the manual ( page 36) describes the procedure ; " select infotainment, car icon , settings" etc, but WHERE is the " infotainment" icon !?!? I have selected every possible icon on the Columbus screen ( which CAN be dimmed) but nothing relates to infotainment ( have tried media, radio etc). I accept I'm not the most teccy of people but I can read, just cannot find how to dim the ruddy tachometer / speedo area ! Any help gratefully received, otherwise I'll have to wear sunglasses at night when driving or admit failure & contact the dealership !

You can access the lighting menu through various methods however; select vehicle/settings/interior lighting

The recent MY19 manual (p.38) seems to be more clear:

The centre console screen, some switches in the steering wheel and column is called as the infotainment system. There is many variations of it: Columbus, Amundsen, Bolero.

Does seem a bit of pain to adjust, the manual also states;

"The brightness of the instrument illumination is set automatically depending on the ambient lighting throughout. If the visibility is poor and the lights are not on, the brightness of the instrument lighting reduces to alert the driver to switch on the lights in due time."

Got it !! Thanks all, especially "Ronniebarker" whose instructions were so much easier to follow than those in the manual. I was looking for "CAR" to start the process, as my previous Octy 3's had a switch marked "CAR", but I couldn't find it buried in the menus or elsewhere. Almost every car I've ever owned had a wee rotary switch near the lighting control, easily found & easily rotated to alter the dash illumination - I suppose sticking the means inside a touchscreen menu is classed as progress !
