Front Electric Windows Faulty

Featured Replies

Have spent the week going through my son's newly acquired second hand 2010 Fabia MK2 car and come across the passenger electric window not functioning?

The drivers side operates both electric windows without a problem.  But the passenger front window will not operate from the switch on the door?

Could understand it if nothing operated but runs quickly up and down from the drivers door switch. Assume there is no kiddy switch set up on the Fabia to stop the front passenger from window access like the Mrs Yeti?

Did plug in my HEX-V2 VCDS but that showed no faults coming up on Auto Scan.

Anybody come across this problem.

Often, the wires in the door bellows snap/sever and work intermittently so could be this. Otherwise, the switch its self could need cleaning or swapping out.

Kiddie switch only on full 4 window versions, where drivers door has all 4 window switches.

I'm led to believe the wiring loom from the door through the pillar can get damaged over time, leading to problems with electric door mirrors (like ours currently) and/ or electric windows. One of the other owners on here had his wiring looms replaced under extended warranty terms by Skoda UK very recently, so they do know about it, but made him fight for it despite the presence of the extended warranty.

Your specific problem mirrors what is happening in my mk5 Golf.

Thanks mrgf and Sittingbull

Will order a new passenger door switch from eBay just in case that is the problem and if not check out the wiring harness from the door to the body. Thinking back my Mrs Yeti had a problem with the drivers door and I located a wire that had nearly fractured through and stopped the electric mirror operating. Great fun trying to re solder and put heat shrink sleeving over the joint a few years back. Will now have to wait until he returns home from the RAF.

At least I could not find anything else wrong with the car apart from the battery reading around 12.4 volts after leaving it for four days.
