Warning? soft bong sound

Featured Replies

Occasionally when I unlock the car I hear a soft sort of bonging noise from inside. It happens a few times then stops and I don't hear it again.

No warnings on the dash, car seems fine in every other way.

I've searched the forums and none of my search phrases have uncovered anything. It's 2010 Petrol VRS.

Any ideas?

Low battery possibly.

Thanks, only just seen this didn't pop up on my digest.

I think you might be right, I had a problem with power steering which was actually low power, enough to start but not enough to steer. My mechanic said it wasn't charging so a new alternator seem to have fixed it for a while but it's back again.

Only seems to happen if I've not driven it for a few days. Something must be draining the battery.

Seems weird I only get an obscure sound and no lights.

How old is the battery?

From personal experience and previous threads on here, batteries around the 5 year mark tend to throw a wobbler into the mix.
