how does the engine measure the temp within the cylinders? i have 4 cylinders;

1. 175c
2. 150c
3. 150c
4. no reading

 

does the engine use glow plug resistance to measure the temp?

 

my car came up in limp mode, flashing the preheat lamp. no faults registered. got the car up to temp, turned off for 20/30mins, turned back on, faults gone and all ok.

 

problem is this has happened 3 times now, i'll change glow plugs, just wandering if this sounds right?

Have you scanned the car with vcds or just a generic code reader?

 

A flashing glow plug light does not indicate a fault with the glow plugs so I wouldn't get too caught up with the cylinder temps because I doubt that would cause a limp mode anyway.

 

I would get the codes from the car before you start replacing things for now.
