Rearguard bumper protector on MY18 VRS Estate?

Featured Replies

Anyone have one of these fitted? I've just fitted one to mine but it doesn't cover the whole bumper lip as I would expect... On their website it looks like the protector goes right under the bootlid but mine stops short.

Have you got another pic zoomed out a bit to see the full effect?

Looking at this myself. Did you fit yourself? Easy? Where from ?

Many thanks

This shows it all, excuse the mess in the boot!

Dead easy to fit and follows the curve of the bumper really well, just seems a bit narrow as there is an obvious step before the boot opening that I would expect the cover to butt up against. I got it on ebay when there was a voucher code so a bit cheaper than going direct to RGM even though it was shipped direct from them.

I have seen differing versions for a Fabia hatchbacks, too- one that goes up on the sides, to make a wider cover and protect the sides a little more and one about the same as yours. The one with the sides is identical to Skoda's own version, which usually costs a few quid more. There will also be a variant for estates, too. I cannot recall if it covers the lip you refer to but I would think not as that will make the moulding far too complicated and raise the cost somewhat!

Do you know where and when that discount code was? If still current, might be good for others, too!

Thanks for info

Personally I think it looks well. I wouldn’t be too put off with the slight gap.

Maybe didn't explain it too well - it's just about 15mm too narrow. The gap is still the flat section of the bumper so no more complicated to make, it just seems odd that there is obvious gap that could be completely covered just by making the guard a bit "fatter".

I bought it weeks ago but seem to get almost weekly offers from ebay at the moment with 10% or more off - unfortunately you do get a load of spam from them but worth it for the occasional discount... The seller was premierautomobiles-2009 on ebay

It does look pretty good - the texture and colour matches quite well with the "diffuser" moulding further down the bumper. Just waiting on a reply from them on whether the gap is by design or if they put the wrong part in the bag...

....Oh, I see the issue now. Yeah, not as full as it could be. Perhaps a hatchback/estate fitment error?

Was it the RPB680?

That's what the bag said but I have my doubts as to what was actually in the bag now...

I've got the same one and never thought anything about it. And it looks a lot more obvious on Corrida Red

My guess is that it doesn't go all the way back so as when you close the bootlid, it doesn't foul the protector.

To be fair, you'd have to really be trying to damage that little gap between the edge of the protector and the rubber seal I think!

Cheers,

Nick

As a conclusion to this they have confirmed the part is correct, however the early versions did extend under the bootlid and that is what is still pictured on the website. There were some issued with the bootlid rubbing so they made a change to more recent parts to give the clearance...

Makes sense that something may have changed I got a bumper protector for my estate (SE L, MY19) from my dealer, even though the part number was correct for it, the plastic spacers that are used to align it were too small (not as deep as the bumper).

I can't complain though, it was from their 'bargain bin' as it wasn't on their stock and cost £10, I adapted the spacers and eyed it in.
