Water Leak

Featured Replies

Hi ALl,

Hope you can help shed some light on my problem.  I have a Octavia VRS 16 plate and found this evening the rear drivers side footwell was soaking wet.  I took off the plastic panel and checked that the holes were clear under the bonnet, near the windscreen (as i had the same issue with my vectra yers ago) . So now i'm out of ideas.  Is this a common issue?

ive got flooding in the rear passenger side well behind the wheel arch, im still scratching my head over it.

I've had the same problem myself Wednesday this week. Passenger side front and rear footwell's full of water.

Couldn't work out where the water had got in from, but the passenger side front sunroof drain pipe was blocked at the filter end in the engine bay. Gave the end of the pipe a squeeze, felt something solid come out and water was running freely again,

I did check behind the passenger side front wheel arch trim and that wasn't to full of crap, but I believe that this area can get blocked and cause footwell flooding. So this might be worth checking. I've also read on here that theres a air con pipe that runs in the front passenger footwell and that this can also cause leaks as well.

I'm just waiting to see if clearing the blocked sunroof drain solves my problem or not.

Hi,  I had this same issue last year on my Golf Mk 7. Some issue with the rear door speakers and degraded sealing meant that water somehow got through the speaker, down to the bottom of the door and then into the rear footwells. Worst case was about half inch depth of water. Searched on the forums and found the answer. So maybe same kind of issue

VW knew all about it and repaired it with new speakers sealants etc. and it did not happen again in the 6 months after that. I changed car at that time so I assume it was a permanent fix. I was out of warranty so it cost me about £150 if I recall.

Had the same problem this week. The front and reat footwell were very damp. After investigating, the left side of the car where the water flooded the car also had blocked sunroof drain pipe.

Did your clearing of the drain turn out to be a fix for the water problem?
