2014 VRS Audio Upgrade options?

Featured Replies

Having just got my 2014 VRS coming from my BMW and also have my Golf R with Dynaudio, I have to say the audio quality is shocking for the standard system.

I have seen the Helix PnP system and pretty sure it will fit (Columbus nav which is same as Navigation Pro MIB1) but I am unsure about the coding of it as there is programming for the amp for particular vehicles.  Everywhere I have seen all refer to VW.

So has anyone fitted the Helix system to their O3 and if so were you able to get it programmed for the Octy or if not, what VW car variant did you chose?

My understanding having researched this prior to buying (then ended up with canton) was the programming refers to the amplifier set up for the specific car. As such you select your car, download the file from Helix then pop the SD card into the helix system.

So there no actual programming/VCDS to do.

Having read a lot of the Golf forums (UK and German) the specific car set up is a must as most people reported significant improvements in sound quality.

Yes this is my understanding too. A lot of the listings on eBay list golf 7 >2016 as compatible which is when the mib2 was released. I wonder if there are two different versions for earlier and later sat navs!

Ah sorry misunderstood, (didn't read properly!).

My best guess would be to set it to a Golf estate if there is not a setting for an Octavia. If you go for it, please let us know if it’s any good.
