Starting issue

Featured Replies

Good evening Skoda boffs ..

Went to the shops in my car today . Was away for about half an hour when I returned to my car it wouldn’t start . Just didn’t seem to turn over . I tried it a few times and when I put my foot fully on the accelerator it started up .

Drove it home once parked tried it again started first time . Tried it for a 2nd time didn’t start with the same problem as before . If I give it lots of fuel it fires up . If not it’s hits and miss .

Car is a 2008 cr170 vrs .

I fitted a few filters I had been meaning to fit . Fuel filter was dirty but new one has made no difference

any thoughts or ideas would be welcomed

So as said dirty fuel filter, it seems it was filled up with crappy diesel?

Was the previous filter to old?

Any clogged injector now?

Any indication in dash panel shown?

Possibility to read the car for fault codes to start from somewhere more easily?

Thanks for response ...

filter was was dirty but fuel in canister looked clean .

Strange how it starts when you give it throttle . Drives perfectly once started .

No dash lights or error codes . Scanned on 2 readers

Is there any chance to scan with VCDS (if not being any of the 2 used for scanning)?

It may show something which simpler readers could not catch..

Did you fit the fuel filter correctly. The seal on the top and the lid fitted and tightened correctly? I believe this can be the cause of some issues.

Prime the car a few times ignition off on type thing too?

Hi guys thanks for the response .. the issues happened before the fuel filter was fitted . Also happened after .

Its actually been fine today starting on the key with no throttle at all . Strange !!

Mum sure it will start playing up again when I’m miles away from my house
