Snow/Ice Cover

Featured Replies

Hi guys, just curious, with all the ice etc about, does anyone recommend a cover for their skoda superb?

Would allow less scraping of side windows in the morning haha.

Any ideas?

My experience of covers on cars (not just the Superb) is that the cover itself sometimes sticks to the car paintwork in hard frosts so is doubly difficult to remove - it can stick that hard that there is a fear that damage to the paintwork or trim can be done when trying to remove the cover. This is especially so when the car bodywork is slightly wet, you put on the cover and there is a big freeze overnight - you know the ones where you can't open the door as the rubber weatherstrip has frozen.

Best to just resort to the scraper.

Thanks guys

Hi,

I don't like cover. I used to have one for my 1st car (a 205. Please, don't laugh , inherited from my grandpa), since I was student a used to drive it only during the week-ends.

I quickly stopped to use this cover, as soon as I noticed that it made microscratches on the paintwork, due to slight dust/dirt accumulated on the car when... not covered...

In fact, each time you cover and uncover the car, the simple friction of the cover on the paintwork make the small particles of dust/dirt roll on the car body.

Your car will then look like this:

Currently, on icy days, I use a spray with 'pure' alcohol. It costs almost nothing and works very good. The result is instantaneous.

Of course with heavy frost (below ~ -10°C / ~14F), it does not work that good anymore.
