Octavia RS review

Featured Replies

Seconds before this weeks local freebie, the Wokingham Standard got consigned to the bunny litter tray, I spotted a review of the Octavia RS in the motoring pages. So, that page got a reprieve!

The headline is a little frightening - "Skoda's new Octavia RS is a real street racer".

First off, it's hardly new is it? I've had mine sine June last year!! They go on to say that "Skoda's latest street racer shatters the company's less-than-perfect image". Having said that, using the phrase "Street racer" does give it the baseball cap wearing yoof image, with lowered suspension, flared wheelarches and more neon than you can poke a fluffy dice at.

Anyway, the review is all positive, the only negative point made was that the one that the journalist tested had a slight rattle - although he did say he thought it was a one off, as no other Skoda he had driven had rattled.

Meanwhile, the bunnies can do their business on the property section of the paper instead :D

New indeed, I have had mine since July 2001

That's motoring journalists in freebie papers for you! Can remember

one gave a review of the new Primera, which I read with interest having

spent a couple of days swearing at one I was given as a hire car :D

The main points are disagreed with were:

a) Stylish and good looking.

B) Responsive steering (even the Fabia's fly-by-wire steering has more

feel to it!)

c) That the central console to control everything off two buttons was a

really fantastic idea that every company should adopt. Managed to lose

a wheel trim looking at the daft central mounted speedo while trying

to turn the fan down
