Skoda Octavia Scout (2017) breakdown

We have a Skoda Octavia Scout MkIII (2017 registered) just over a year old and 13,000 miles on the clock. Just before Christmas the car would not start. Skoda Roadside assist sent the AA and they found that the battery was not holding a charge. The car was booked in for testing after New year as there is a known problem with Skoda batteries. We drove maybe 700 mile after this event with no further starting problem until our return trip home from New Year in England. We set off and got 6 miles in the early hours and the car chugged and went into limp mode. 3 Roadside assistance tech's later and they were unable to diagnose the problem. The car was then transported to Scotland and it has been in the dealership ever since. I am being told that they can not diagnose the problem as they need "the factory" to write a programme to allow them to test the car's wiring and they also need to be told by Skoda what testing kit to use. The car is still running under a much reduced power Max 30mph. With smoke and fumes coming out of exhaust. On a recent test drive by the Service centre. The Service centre can not move on from this fault until they have ticked it off and it may not be the main problem. EGR and DPF have all been discussed by the roadside techs. The Turbo sensors were also replaced roadside to no effect. (a fault was recorded on one test but cleared when tested for a second time. Roadside Assistance Tech's did not have full diagnostics for this model despite being VW, Skoda, Seat & Audi assistance). Has anyone else had this problem and if so how was it fixed?

I have the same problem with a 2017 registered Scout DSG with exactly the same results (happened sunday 27/01/2019), Skoda assist fitted new battery, car was ok for 100 miles stopped for comfort break,  problem reoccured when restarted car namely  missing and white smoke from the exhaust. 2nd time AA engineer came (as no Skoda Engineer available) who put error down to sensor and car unable to regenerate DPF regeneration or a faulty injector. eventually got error  Engine control VEI / Deisel EDC 17c74 UDS - Status P245600 - Diesel particulate filter differential preassure sensor Error message : intermittent /erratic/high. static fault (I took a photo f the AA mans error screen). Car transported back to colchester when they tested car on monday said it was running fine and couldnt find a problem so sent them a copy of AA engineers screen. Car is currently still at the dealership been there for 3 days they are still investigating problem. Have a hire car at the moment (golf GTD dsg estate) not a patch on the scout! If I get any answers will let you know.

Aldo1 -  thanks for your response. I just got my car back yesterday, so 4 weeks in the dealership/service dept. They still do not have a defined answer as to why the car broke down. Support given to the dealer from Skoda UK and Skoda Cz was poor to non-existent. They have replaced the battery as this was a known fault for Skoda's of this age and they have been replacing thousands. They have also replaced 3 sensors (both DPF sensors and the turbo pressure sensor) and the rewired all three. These were faults that the VW roadside techs had noted when we broke down, on one test and then when tested again the fault had cleared. However the dealer had to request a programme to be written by the "factory" as their diagnostic programme seemed to stop at a critical point and went no further so they could not complete the full diagnostic. No programme was forthcoming. After they replaced the battery all faults were wiped from the memory and on testing again they could not make the car fault again. Dealer spoke to a Skoda UK Tech who said when they explained "Oh well its probably fixed itself then". Not very encouraging or confidence building. As they could not diagnose the fault they agreed to renew the sensors and cabling and battery. They have road tested it for over 100 miles and the car seems to be running Ok for the moment.  However they have never been able to explain what the cause of the breakdown was ! As I needed a 4x4 for my buisness and we have snow now. I requested a 4x4 equivalent and they eventually got me a Tiguan VW jeep. Worth asking them to give you an equivalent 4x4..... they had given me a Sharan people carrier to get back to Scotland, which would have been useless for the last week or two up here!

Thanks for your reply and glad, hopefully, that the problems with your car have been rectified. Havent had any information from the dealership yet (despite several phonecalls) will have to see how things developed.

Just out of interest, who is the car with? (Should the same problem come up with ours it may be useful to know who has had experience of dealing with such issues).
