Sticking speedometer needle

Featured Replies

Have just had instrument panel out to replace two LEDs (thanks to the chap who provided the instructions on this site).

However, the speedometer needle now sticks and acts as a ratchet as speed increases, going up but not down. Returns to zero when ignition switched off.  Any answers?

I'd check it all went back together properly and the needle hasn't been pressed on too hard causing it to foul the dial face.

Sound advice langers2k, thank-you.  I took the display out and needle off, refitted it gently but firmly and rotated it clockwise a couple of revolutions to check the action.  Then removed needle,  replaced display in car and drove a mile to ensure that needle axle would revert to zero.  Then out with display and fitted needle (gently but firmly).  Back in with display and another drive.  The needle is running smoothly (currently).  Cheers all.
