Every 10-15 starts car won't start.

Featured Replies

Every 10 of 15 starts starter will turn but car fails to fire up. If I continuously crank the oil warning light comes in saying oil pressure.  Then if I leave it say about 20 minutes...it will fire up no bother.  Just  cruised  the MOT. Brand new oil and filter.  Any ideas?

I would start with the battery state of charge then clean the terminals and the earth straps   batt to body and engine earth

Just checking - what engine do you have on this car? If the 2.0pd shown in your signature does this version have the balance shaft module with the oil pump drive shaft that was known to fail? (I've a feeling the Octavia didn't have this though).

Just wondering as low oil presssure was mentioned

About that oil warning. I remember once I had some problems and the car couldn't be started (the throttle flap didn't open). Starter was turning but the car didn't start. And after some while the oil warning appeared.

I called the mechanic and in the end asked also about that warning. He asked - did you try to start it for a longer period? Well, yes. Such things happen.

So, maybe this might be completely not related to your problem.
