SE Sport Seat Question

Featured Replies

Hi All

A few weeks ago I purchased a 2015 Rapid Spaceback in SE Sport trim and I'm very pleased with it however the other half just cannot get comfortable in the passenger seat - she has no issues in any of my other cars (3) but it seems with her height the seat cannot be set up in a position that she can get comfortable

In a nutshell she is a "PORG" (Person of restricted growth) and at 5 foot tall in heels the built in headrest means she cannot adjust the headrest to provide support further back from the backrest so effectively it's pushing her head forward

Has anyone else found the same issue?

I'm actually considering chopping the car in for something else as the noise from the passenger seat is unbearable :D

Welcome.

'Halfords Comfort Seat' @ £29,99  or a similar Cushion / Adult Booster Seat.

& a Block of foam with a rubber mat on top in the footwell.

Thanks for the welcome - is the response based on experience of the same issue and a resolution or a google based suggestion?

I did suggest a booster seat to her but she wasn't very impressed with that idea..............

Experience of assisting to modify or adapt vehicles for mobility issues, and solutions for use in different vehicles,

keeping it cheap and simple where possible. There are lots of more expensive adaptions and aids but for someone just wanting a lift from different people a cushion and footrest can do the job.

Thanks for that - helps tp know where someone is coming from

I did suggest she sat on the floor but she didn't like that idea either

I've also suggested she sits in the back didn't get her vote either

Swap the seats with a non-Sport spec owner? Other Rapids and Toledos have separate headrests which adjust.

I could do that but I like the seats - I've got a back support thingy - will try it tonight when I collect her from work

Quieter journey home but a longer journey will be a better test

I actually think the other thing that will make a difference is if I can raise the back of the seat (spacers under the rear floor mounts) as because it doesn't have a height adjustable base it's actually got a bit too much rake in the seat base

I find the car very comfortable myself but unless I get this little issue sorted the car will have to go......

Other models (Toledo in particular) have height adjustable seat base on the passenger side which does just that. Scrappers?

That's where I am now - 900 miles in a month and she ain't happy - so I'm trying to find a height adjustable seat base from a car that had it from new

The lumbar support helped but no where near enough to get her comfortable - I know she's got a little issue with the badge image but this is way more than that

It's a bit mad really as the only car previous which gave her any discomfort was a track prepared car with fixed bucket seats

For me the Skoda is really comfy and returning a genuine 46 mpg so a considerable improvement on the previous daily (supercharged 2.3 4 pot)

But if I can't fix it then I guess I need find an alternative which will probably be another Polo (we've had three over the years and she didn't have any issues comfort wise)

Most LHD ones would be height adjustable that side? Google the part numbers and search eBay all over  Europe.

Swap it for a (mechanically identical) Toledo with more comfy seats?

Chopping it in on 2nd August for BMW 125i Coupe - I really like the Rapid - love the £30 VED - the 46 mpg over 7000 miles - the kit level is fantastic but the noise from the passenger side is just too much - she can't get comfortable in the car and so every journey is a bloody nightmare - I'll take a 1700 quid loss in 6 mths just for the peace and quiet.

She sat in the 125i for 10 min and then a 15 min test drive and gave it the thumbs up - she knows if she even twitches in the seat she can't say a word now

She doesn't like summer car much either but then she doesn't get in it much

Probably not even registering on the radar here

Nice to see someone knows what it is

The tyres were pretty much finished and although they had 3 - 4 mm on the them they were hard as hell the ride was dreadful - 3 tyre warming excercises before blatting up Shelsley Walsh hill didn't kill them. I then did a track day on them and still couldn't kill them - so I took em off - had the wheels refurbished and threw on a new set I'd had waiting for a year!!!
