Superb to Karoq

Featured Replies

I lusted after changing my 2nd Octavia for a Superb, whereas SWMBO'd wanted a "higher upper" (you'll gather she's not a petrol head !). I arranged back to back test drives of a Superb & Karoq, & surprised myself by wanting the "higher upper" too - the Karoq's merits outweighed the Superb's, and the "Edition" version I went for is brilliant in every respect. The icing on the cake was the PCH deal, and once the "18" plate novelty had worn off (!?!) I put my own cherished number plate on too, despite "Honest John" stating it "cannot be done on a PCH" !  No regrets at my choice whatever, the near 4 month wait was well worthwhile, & incidentally, I have never experienced any DSG problems during my 7 month tenure. My 3rd DSG 'box, & never a moments hesitation in any, Octavia's or Karoq.

Thanks for the replies. I didn’t get chance to drive the 1.5 they only had a 1.0. I wasn’t that over excited with it compared to the Superb. It was a lot bumpier ride I guess it’s the different shape that causes it. I preferred the test drive in the 3008 to be honest but wanted to stick with Skoda. Oh well will maybe keep the Superb a little longer.

We have a Superb III 2.0 tsi on 18" wheels and a Karoq Edition 1.5 tsi on 19" wheels, both dsg.

The Superb is a smoother ride, the gearbox smoother.

The Karoq is less compliant, a little bouncier, a harder ride. Pick up from rest is much quicker, with none of the 'nothing, nothing, full power' throttle response that the Superb has.

IMHO the Karoq interior feels more premium and the leather seats robust but the Superb leather is nicer/softer.

The 3008 is surprisingly good too. We just preferred the Karoq.

Horses for courses, I prefer the Superb for long distance driving.
