Since update, sat nav keeps crashing

Featured Replies

I purchased my car last Friday and the sat nav was approximately 4 yrs out of date.

So updated it on Skoda website

now, sat nav works fine when on, but if I have to stop and exit the car / leave overnight, it freezes and requires a quick reboot - then it’s fine

is this a problem of the software or my car (again!)

I’d only opted for UK maps on the website as I don’t go overseas with the car

It won’t be 4 yrs sorry, car isn’t 4 until October :D

I’ve updated mine to uk maps and it now shows 2 speed limits on the screen at the same time.

I've heard that as well - there was a 2019 update thread somewhere with the issues some people had after updating

The 2019 update does show 2 speed limit signs unless you have TSR coded then it doesn’t. I think this is to do with towing vehicle speed limits or somesuch idiosyncrasy. Don’t know how you turn it off though because I have TSR on my car.

As for the OP’s nav problem I’m not sure. What freezes, is it the map or the whole radio?

TSR? I have a factory fit towbar.

TSR = Traffic Sign Recognition. The 2019 update will show 2 signs if you have a towbar or not. In the nav settings there is a section about towing and a section about maximum speed limits. I think VAG decided it might be helpful to have the towing speed limit on the map too, but as usual they haven’t commented on it so nobody knows why it’s there!

It’s just the map that freezes, which in turn freezes the whole radio unit.

Today I was using the nav, received a phone call on Bluetooth, then it gave up guidance - map stayed up though

Take the nav card out and do the update again? When you say reboot do you just turn it off and back on or are you holding the button until it restarts? Try that if you aren’t already and try resetting the settings in the radio menu.

I’ll definitely try updating the maps again

im rebooting by holding until the Skoda symbol reappears (like when you start the car up), then everything unfreezes and is happy

im at a loss to what’s causing it?

How do you mean resetting the settings?

Go into settings in the radio and there should be a factory settings tab. I’ll check on mine tomorrow exactly where it is as I can’t remember off the top of my head.
