I am planning to install a sat nav and connecting the power to the fuse box. Will this invalidate any warrantty I have with this car? I can plug into one of the sockets each time I drive but don't want to have cables loose in the car.

If you start splicing the wiring and you have electrical issues then yes warranty could be affected, but if you're simply piggy backing onto a fuse then if you're having electrical issues, simply remove satnav and nobody will be none the wiser. It's very unlikely a SatNav would cause issues tho.

 

P.S.  If you are tapping in to the internal wiring, have someone else do the job (think Halfords were offering free fitting there for a while), that way if there's any problem thats associated to the installation, responsibility is with the installer.

 

 

I must have been half asleep when I wrote this post this morning. It's not a Satnav I am installing, it's a dashcam. I bought a hardwire kit for the cam so there is no splicing. It just plugs into the current fuse box. I'm still unsure about installing it though and risking my 2 years remaining warranty.
