Just going through the paperwork which came with my new Yeti and found the free 12 months AA Free Breakdown Cover. Oh, I'd forgotten about that, let's have a look...

"Get free Basic Cover for 12 months, covering you for one call-out a year for breakdowns over 1/4 mile from your home."

Wonder how long it would take you to push it 1/4 mile from your home if it didn't start, assuming the steering lock didn't stop you.:D:sweat::tongueout:

Pushing it 1/4 mile for my one allowed callout? I think I'll shop elsewhere and pay some money for a breakdown cover policy which might be some use.

Check with your insurance provider to see what they charge. I get full UK coverage (may even be full European!), Home Start, Onward Journey, Hotel and IIRCC it only added £30-40 to my premium.

On the only occasion I've used it in 7 years it was Green Flag who attended.

@Rustynuts

Was this from some random dealership on a Used Skoda Yeti or what came with a Skoda Approved Used Car?

I have breakdown cover already, but it's "Autoaid" and I wouldn't recommend them at all. I won't be renewing with them, and I wouldn't pay my insurers to provide it either. They do a good enough job of skinning money out of people without giving them the extra opportunity to stitch you up.

I'm £298 fully comp including the full UK breakdown cover, which is not far off what the RAC and AA were quoting me for just the breakdown cover before their 'special' 50% off offer.

With TSB & a Silver Account costing £10 a month it has various things, like Travel Insurance, Mobile Phone Insurance  & Car Breakdown cover with the AA.

So £120

A few weeks back on a Sunday a friend had an oil leak and called me for advice, i said you have AA cover, and RAC cover with your car Insurance with RAC.

So they call the AA & out comes the AA man, sees it is a Oil Filter leaking.

Off he goes on a over 50 miles drive, gets an Oil Filter, fits it, checks the vehicle and then charges less than the filter would have cost at Halfords or even on-line.

Actually the Silver TSB account is £11.95 per month (£143.60 per annum) which the wife finally cancelled this weekend due to the clause in the mobile phone insurance section which stipulates you pay the first £100 of any claim which mean you end  up paying £243.60 per annum to cover your phone against damage or loss but you would get FREE travel insurance. She replaced the account with their FOC Classic account.

too many words

I pay £9.95 a month and so do other family members.

Never needed the Phone insurance as have that elsewhere.

Daughter had a paid for bank account with free breakdown. She broke down a mile away from home and she called for assistance. Apparently she's only covered 40 miles or more from home. Mobile phone cover had £200 excess. Travel insurance was worse than useless (she worked for Thomas Cook at the time and had choice of all the policies they sold).  Cost her £144 per year for nothing more than a guaranteed overdraft.

As with all 'Insurance' you need to know and read the T&Cs.  & if any use for your needs. Also what it costs you.

I got emergency cover when I extended the BMW warranty. It's quite comprehensive and certainly took away some of the sting of the cost of the warranty

Some manufacturers provide 12 months breakdown cover if you get your vehicle serviced by them.

Now Škoda, THAT is Simply Clever.
