Underbody Protection

Featured Replies

Living out in the sticks I often have to contend with poor roads and farm debris.

Thankfully my Octavia has a decent amount of underbody protection. Not sure if this was an option or standard.

When I bought the car part of the protection (rear passenger side) was already damaged and missing a section and i’d been meaning to replace it.

Unfortunately (or fortunately having not replaced it already) tonight I’ve finished it off having dropped off a high curb whilst reversing out of an unfamiliar, rough driveway in the dark.

Does anybody know if this is all one piece and easily available?

Images below of the good and bad sides (even the underside usually gets a blast from the jet wash and it’s a bit overdue).

I'm pretty confident it will be available. If I am remembering properly there are 3 pieces. The engine undertray and left and right undersill covers.  You could call a skoda parts department and enquire, I don't have the part No.#s.

I enquired in 2009 about the under trays for our Fabia (fitted on certain specs, usually diesel). Yes they were obtainable, price wasn't very high. The stumbling block was you had to pull all the carpet up to fit the mounting posts, so didn't proceed.

What do they actually protect?

On mine there is a box section formed in it that I thought was the chassis rail and I nearly jacked the car up on it :o

There is a cut out on the drivers side one on my vehicle exposing cooling fins, I think it may be to cool the diesel on its way back to the tank, the one delicate thing that needs protection has to be exposed to function!
