Fabia Greenline Radio Upgrade

Featured Replies

I currently have a 2011 Fabia with the factory radio installed, which doesn't have any bluetooth capability. I want to ideally install the newer Swing Plus radio system - it is possible to buy one and retrofit it myself? I can't seem to find anything useful online and ngl I have very little idea what to look for. I know it would be cheaper to buy a bluetooth aux adapter but would much prefer the whole system changed.)

Any help would be appreciated!

Hi, sorry if a bit late.

The swing plus is not the same shape as the radio  that came as standard in 2011 Fabias, so it would not fit. However, what would fit and has Bluetooth + touch screen is the Skoda Amundsen, search for Skoda RNS315. This is what the Fabias with sat nav came with, but be aware that the codes for unlocking the systems are stored in the instrument cluster of the car that they came from for security, so make sure that the one you buy comes with a code. Also, the Skoda units may require coding at VAG specialists in order to make them work properly.

Here is how to remove the radio yourself

- Safety first! Disconnect battery

-Gently remove the outer plastic rim that is around the radio.

-Unscrew the 4 Torx screws surrounding the radio.

-Gently pull the radio unit out of the dashboard pulling evenly from both sides.

-Unclip the wiring harness and the antenna connector.

-Pull the unit free.

Now, any compatible radio will fit in the gap nicely. 2DIN Radio units will fit, but adapters will be required.

Kenwood sell one that fits perfectly without the need for adapters, not cheap though.

I also have a 2011 Fabia Estate with no Bluetooth, and I tried to replace the Radio, but my budget was too limited and I bought the Aumume head unit from amazon, which kept crashing, and in the end my workaround was to use a BT adapter and a BT track change button, (because the radio won’t let you change song using the buttons on the radio when connected through AUX).

Not the most elegant but it works.

I hope that there’s something of use to you in this answer, good luck!
