2007 VRs misfire

Featured Replies

Dear all,

1st post and I'll try to be brief.

I have a 2007 vrs, 95k miles timing belt snapped and took out the engine.

My mechanic sourced a refurb bare engine from Volksmine.

Engine is fitted, car starts and ticks over fine, on driving theres a misfire.

Injectors out, slight wear on seals, injector seals and bolts replaced, refitted. Ticks over fine, still misfire when driving, not as bad though.

Engine pressure tested, no issues shown.

Injectors sent for testing, 3 fine, 1 bad.

Injector rebuilt.

Injectors refitted today, ticks over fine but still misfire driving/under load.

Where the f@ck do we go from here ?

Any suggestions appreciated

Has your garage got VCDS?

A misfire would normally throw up a fault code.

If he has a generic fault code reader it might not see it, it's worth getting the car to someone with VCDS.

Even a 2007 vRS is pretty complex, without knowing which sensors have transferred over from the old engine, or come with the new engine it will be difficult to diagnose on here.

A VCDS scan could really help. Any duff sensors,or ones not properly coded will flag up straight away.

Thanks for the reply.

Everything was transferred from the old engine to new, excluding a new camshaft position sensor.

The garage doesn't have VCDS. His snap on reader hasn't thrown any codes.

I'll mention a VCDS scan to him

Scanned with VCDS, no fault codes thrown.

Mechanic thinks it an issue with the replacement block/head

Is it a diesel or petrol vrs?

Sorry, diesel. Should've said in original post.

Don't really know but a faulty  injector harness for the pd injectors can cause misfiring issues as it sits inside the engine and can breakdown over time.

Considered the harness, but would expect a fault code to be thrown
