Air bag switch MK2 Skoda Fabia estate

Featured Replies

Hello guy's,

Im just about to replace a faulty passenger airbag (on off) switch and was wondering if I need to disconnect the battery or if I could get away with removing the airbag fuse? Just dont want to blow anything or set the airbag off...  I did ring my local skoda garage but I started hearing the old bull (£60 to look at it, then £50 for the switch if there is no further damage!) With that cost being the minimum there was the risk of it going up! Reluctantly I bought the switch from TPS at the cost of £48.00 (Nice bit of plastic) :wall:  Any help on the correct procedure  would be much appreciated guys? Update... I took the the TPS switch back and got one off eBay for £10 Works as new!

Just disconnect the battery, wait 5 - 10 mins then do as you need.

You will have to muck about with the windows afterwards but the radio should be fine.

Thanks guys. Took the £48 piece on plastic back to TPS and bought on off eBay for a tenner! Just need to know if taking the negative cable off the battery is enough to clear the error code? And how do I reset the electric windows? Cheers.

Taking the battery off cable will not clear fault codes logged.

Resetting the windows is in the Owners Manual,

and in a thread here in the past couple of weeks, someone will be along to tell you how.

I just put the Electric Windows down and up, and down and up and they seem to be set, or is that re-set.

OK thanks, just been quoted £40 plus vat to have it cleared... :shake:

Someone local with the gear and more than an idea will be along that can clear the codes for you for less beer tokens.

:D Just been quoted £20 which is better than the first one at £50

Of course, you only need to clear the code if there is a code to clear!

I can't spot you saying a code needed clearing, just a faulty switch. The replacement may just be enough.

Thanks, the new £40 cheaper works like new, but yes I'm still looking for a cheap code clearer near me that isn't going to charge me £45 plus vat for a 20-second job.
