I have a 2015 VRS with Columbus head unit with USB etc. My ‘Brunel edition’ iPod classic (2005 vintage) is not recognised by the USB (USB ERROR).
 
Does anyone know if the later generation iPod (non IOS) classics work ok? I realise I could use other mediums but I like the iPod for its storage capacity and I use it in other places besides the car. 
 
Apologies if this has been asked before, I did have a little search but am not much the wiser.
 
I am looking at used 7th gen iPod classics online and just need to know if my car will recognise it please.
