Sunroof Leaking

Featured Replies

Hi Team,

Have located the two rear and the two front drain outlets (between the two door hinges) in my Octavia wagon.

The right rear drain nipple was disconnected and the front right squirted out a lot of water when I gave it a bit of a prod. Managed to isolate each drain inlet and pour water down each one with every outlet now working fine, However, huge downpour last night and this morning there is dampness under the mats on the right hand side front and back and a little water in the wheel well.

Is there more than four sunroof drain outlets?

Any ideas? Thanks for your help!

No, there are only four drains. I found on my MK 1 Octavia that the front water pipes were flattened at the end and I had to squeeze the pipe to get a flow, same as you experienced. However further examination showed there was still some crud in the last two inches of pipe

I cleaned this out with a thin steel pointed implement (actually a barbecue meat skewer) and then checked that water would flow out without having to squeeze the end of the pipe. Problem solved.

I know you said you had free flow in all pipes but worth checking at all flow rates too as my experience is the build up in crud in the pipe acted as a restricter only at high flow rates.

When you say water in the wheel well do you mean the spare wheel well. If so then there are numerous posts about this and solutions.

Use the search box at the top or better still use Google with the name of this forum and your search term in the search line.

Thanks Pikpilot.

Great help, and I must say that 'free flow' is not quite correct a both outlet nippes were both making spitting and squirting sounds even though I had poured many liters through both. Will check the wheel well (spare wheel in the boot cavity) posts now,
