Ecu cover

Featured Replies

I noticed my ecu was held in with a tie wrap and open to all weathers is it possible to cover it up? Water proof

thanks

  • 2 weeks later...

Not sure about the petrol engined Octy's, but on my TDI the ECU is mounted just in front of the windscreen on the right side. (LHD car...) It's mounted in a steel cradle that hooks up to a small steel bracket at the top, and is fastened with two 10mm nuts in the bottom. The whole shebang is covered by the plastic wiper mechanism cover below the windscreen. Sounds like you need the steel cradle from a parts car at a breakers....

I dont think the cradle adds any weatherproofing and it is not fitted on vehicles that dont have an alarm/immobiliser.

Pretty much all of the ECU is tucked under the windscreen which protects it from showers but not a high pressure jet.

I left off the cage when I refitted my re-chipped ECU so its not needed for fixing purposes, I found it almost impossible to remove the connector and extricate the ECU with the bracket fitted and its fixings removed, there probably is a knack.

I just slide the bracket off before I pull the ECU out from the "room" under the windscreen...
